Activities
Day 1: Pickup and Drive to Hotel in Arusha
Your guide will pick you up from the airport, providing a warm welcome and a brief overview of your safari. You will then be driven to your hotel in Arusha where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night at Runako Lodge, preparing for the adventure ahead.
Day 2: Arusha to Kilimanjaro (Marangu) to Mandara Hut
Departing from your hotel in Arusha, you will head to Marangu Gate to begin your Kilimanjaro trek. After completing the necessary registration and equipping yourself with trekking gear, the ascent commences. The first day's hike, lasting 4 to 5 hours, takes you through a lush forest to Mandara Hut for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
The hike from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut spans 6 to 8 hours through moorlands and forests. Along the trail, enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. The day's journey concludes at Horombo Hut, where dinner and an overnight stay await.
Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
After breakfast at Horombo Hut, the trek continues through alpine desert vegetation towards Kibo Hut, a journey of 6 to 8 hours. Dinner and an overnight stay at Kibo Hut prepare you for the next day's summit attempt.
Day 5: Kibo Hut to Summit and Back to Horombo Hut
An early start is crucial to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. The ascent takes about 4 to 5 hours through heath vegetation, with a spectacular sunrise at the peak. After some time at the summit, you will descend to Horombo Hut for dinner and rest.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Arusha
On the final day of the Kilimanjaro trek, descend from Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate. Here, you will receive your summit certificates before being driven back to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay at Runako Lodge.
Day 7: Drive to Lake Manyara National Park
Your guide will collect you from your hotel in Arusha for a drive to Lake Manyara National Park, with a stopover in Mto wa Mbu town. Known for its large elephant population, the park is also home to waterbucks, antelopes, gazelles, buffalos, and tree-climbing lions. After a lunch break at your lodge, you will enjoy a game drive, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Nsya Lodge.
Day 8: Transfer to Serengeti National Park
After breakfast and checking out from your lodge, the journey to Serengeti National Park begins. The Serengeti, the oldest national park in Tanzania, offers sightings of the Big Five: elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and have lunch before an evening game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at Osinon Camps and Lodges complete the day.
Day 9: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Start the day with breakfast at your lodge, followed by a full day of game viewing in Serengeti National Park. Morning and afternoon game drives provide opportunities to see a wide range of wildlife, including wildebeests, elands, impalas, gazelles, kudus, waterbucks, giraffes, hippos, lions, leopards, and zebras. Lunch will be at your lodge, with dinner and overnight stay at Osinon Camps and Lodges.
Day 10: Drive to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Following lunch, descend approximately 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for exceptional wildlife viewing. Look for wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, elands, warthogs, hippos, giant African elephants, and predators like lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards. A visit to Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake, reveals flamingos, hippos, and various bird species. Dinner and an overnight stay at Eileen’s Tree Inn conclude the day.
Day 11: Drive to Tarangire National Park
Following breakfast at your lodge, drive to Tarangire National Park. Famous for its large herds of elephants and majestic baobab trees, the park also hosts over 600 bird species. After checking in at your lodge and having lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive to spot lions, leopards, buffalos, waterbucks, antelopes, elands, impalas, and giraffes. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Baobab Tented Lodge.
Day 12: Full Day in Tarangire National Park
Enjoy an early breakfast before setting out on a morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. Look for elephants, antelopes, zebras, buffalos, lions, gazelles, and klipspringers. After lunch, an afternoon game drive provides more wildlife viewing and scenic landscapes. Return to Baobab Tented Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 13: Drive to Arusha
Following breakfast at your lodge, embark on a drive back to Arusha with an en route game drive. Your guide will drop you off at the airport, marking the end of your 13-day Tanzania safari.
