Activities
DAY 1
The night before trekking, the guest will meet a lead guide who will provide a briefing and inspect all the necessities for successful summiting including gears this will be done to the respective hotel KEYS HOTEL after that you will agree for the next day departure time to the gate.
From Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
- Accommodation: Keys Hotel
- Elevation: 2100m to 2750m
- Distance: 8 km

Recommended Gears
Expect wet and muddy conditions at lower elevations. Gaiters and trekking poles can be helpful. Shorts and t-shirts are suitable, but keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy.
After breakfast, we depart Moshi at 9 AM, driving for 2 hours to Lemosho Gate on Kilimanjaro's west side. After park registration, we start on a 3-hour hike into the rainforest, spotting Colobus monkeys plays on trees. We'll have a packed lunch on the way. Upon arrival at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2750m), porters will set up tents, on arrival you will have a hot. tea, coffee and ginger just before super delicious dinner provided by our chef then meeting our guide for night briefing.

DAY 2
FromMti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Dressing Guide:
As you ascend to 3000m, temperatures drop, so dressing warmly is crucial to conserve energy. Long underwear, hiking pants, liner gloves, and a proper jacket are recommended until summit day. Keep your rain gear handy in your day bag. Expect cold nights with temperatures dipping below freezing.
Day's Journey
Begin the day with a slow trek through moorland, passing giant ferns, until you reach an altitude of 3500m. Cross the Shira Bridge at 3600m, then gently descend to the Shira Plateau. Settle in at Shira 1 Camp near a stream, where you can spend the afternoon resting or exploring. The camp offers stunning views of Mount Meru. The waiter will provide drinking and washing water, while the chef will prepare snacks and dinner

DAY 3
From Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Day's Journey
Explore the Shira Plateau for a full day with a gentle eastward walk lasting 4 to 5 hours toward Kibo's glaciered peak. This plateau, reputedly one of Africa's most beautiful, offers excellent acclimatization. Reach Shira 2 Camp at 3640m, surrounded by moorland meadows.

DAY 4
From Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

- Distance: 10 km Hiking
- Time: 6-8 hours
- Vegetations: Semi-Desert

Day's Journey
Climb approximately 700m from Shira Plateau to Lava Tower at around 4600m. After lunch and rest, continue through Barranco Valley to reach the scenic Barranco Camp. Trek for 6-7 hours through alpine desert and the Barranco Valley, adorned with small lobelia plants and giant senecios. Enjoy a well-deserved dinner before resting for the next day.

DAY 5
From Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

- Distance: 6 km
- Trekking Time: 3-4 hours

Day's Journey
After breakfast, ascend a steep ridge, passing the Barranco Wall. Enjoy a well-earned lunch break at Karanga Camp, offering fantastic views of Barafu and Mount Meru. Continue across ridges and valleys to Karanga Valley campsite. End the day with dinner before resting for the next day. This shorter day is intended for acclimatization.

DAY 6
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Elevation: 3995m to 4673m
- Distance: 4 km
- Trekking time: 3-4 hours
- Vegetations: Alpine Desert
Recommended gear:
As we approach 4000m, ensure you're well-covered to conserve energy. Wear long underwear, hiking pants, liner gloves, and a sturdy jacket. Keep your rain gear handy. Prepare for a cold night as temperatures drop below freezing.
After breakfast, we depart Karanga and continue upward to Barafu camp. Here, we complete the Southern Circuit, offering various angles of the summit. We set up camp, enjoy an early dinner, and ready ourselves for summit day. Barafu Camp provides stunning views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.

SUMMIT DAY - PHASE 1: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak
- Elevation: 4673m to 5895m
- Distance: 5 km
- Trekking time: 7-8 hours
- Vegetations: alpine glacier
Recommended gears
During the ascent to the summit, temperatures range from -10 to -20 degrees Celsius. Dress in multiple layers, including a jacket, ski trousers, gaiters, a warm hat, and a balaclava. A head lump is essential for the night climb.
In the early hours of the mid night around 11:30pm we bundle up and begin our climb to the summit. Heading northwest, we ascend through heavy scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek. At Stella Point (5756m), we rest briefly and witness a breathtaking sunrise. From Stella Point, it's just an hour to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Faster hikers may catch the sunrise from the summit. SUMMIT DAY - PART 2: Uhuru Peak to High camp

- Trekking time: 5-6 hours

After reaching the summit, we descend straight to Mweka Hut campsite, stopping at Barafu for lunch. High Camp is nestled in the upper forest. Later, we enjoy our final dinner on the mountain and a well-deserved rest.
DAY 8

- Elevation: 3900m to 1860m
- Distance: 13.7 km
- Trekking time: 3-4 hours
- Vegetations: Forest
Recommended wear:
As you descend, temperatures rise. Start the day with layers you can remove as needed.
After breakfast we continue our descent to Mweka Park Gate. All hikers must sign in to receive certificates of completion from the National Park. Those reaching Stella’s Point (5756m) receive green certificates, while those reaching Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates. After signing, we share a final meal with the team and possibly provide tips. Then, we drive back to the hotel in Moshi for well-deserved showers and celebrations.
